documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a nonprofit corporation supported and financed by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse as shareholders, and also receives financial support from the Federal Cultural Foundation. The nonprofit GmbH is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, the Fridericianum, the documenta archiv, and the documenta Halle.

We are seeking, as soon as possible, a reliable individual who enjoys the combination of the art world and funding organizations, as well as the diverse conditions associated with them.

The position is temporary, with a term ending on December 31, 2027. The work location is Kassel.

Fundraising Assistant (m/f/d)

Your Responsibilities:

  • Assisting with the organization of the fundraising department, particularly with general administrative and organizational workflows
  • Assisting with the preparation of grant applications, invitation letters, and general correspondence by preparing mailings, informational materials, and thank-you letters
  • Regularly maintaining and updating the grant contact database (Excel)
  • Managing the Myriad and every.org portals for incoming international financial transactions
  • Schedule management: Assisting with monitoring the deadline calendar and coordinating appointments, meetings, and events
  • Administrative support for organizing the Friends of documenta e. V. (International Friends of documenta e. V.): Maintaining and updating the member contact database (MS Word, including Excel, Brevo, and potentially FileMaker), including participant management
  • Assisting with the organization of events for sponsors, partners, and friends in collaboration with the D16 Department for Professional Visitors

Your Profile:

  • Initial professional experience in fundraising and managing partnerships is desirable but not required
  • Excellent written and spoken German and English skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, as well as a structured and highly precise approach to work
  • Stylistically sound writing and strong communication skills
  • IT proficiency and expertise in using MS Office (including Excel), CRM tools, and common IT applications are required
  • Knowledge of accounting and finance is a plus
  • Attention to detail, discretion, and reliability
  • Interest in and initial work experience in the field of contemporary art are a plus
  • Enjoyment of process-oriented, collaborative work as part of a large international team
