documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is seeking an architect (m/f/d) for documenta 16 (Production and Technology Department).
This is a full-time position with a fixed term ending on September 30, 2027.
documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a nonprofit organization owned and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse. The nonprofit organization is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years, the Fridericianum, the documenta archive, and the documenta Halle.

Your Responsibilities:
- Assisting with the conversion of existing buildings into exhibition spaces (Planning Phases 1–8)
- Conducting and planning site visits, developing preliminary plans and cost estimates, creating and monitoring schedules, assisting with the preparation of permit applications, drafting specifications, determining and controlling costs, and participating in the contracting process.
- Assisting with the technical preparation, planning, and setup of exhibition projects
- Assistance with the management of external service providers in the technical field
- Assisting with the maintenance of the documenta Halle and Museum Fridericianum properties
Your Profile:
- Excellent knowledge of the processes involved in producing contemporary exhibitions
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
- Experience managing large budgets
- Proficiency with common IT programs
- (e.g., CAD, 3D modeling, MS Office)
- Technical aptitude and an interest in current discourses in contemporary art
- Ability to work independently, collaborate effectively, and communicate clearly
- Ability to work under pressure and flexibility
- Enjoyment of working in an international environment
- Above-average dedication and organizational skills
- A solution-oriented, structured approach to work
