documenta and Museum Fridericianum gGmbH is a nonprofit corporation supported and funded by the City of Kassel and the State of Hesse as shareholders, and also receives financial support from the German Federal Cultural Foundation. The nonprofit corporation is responsible for the documenta exhibition, which takes place every five years; the Fridericianum; the documenta archive, which is being developed into the documenta Institute; and the documenta Halle.

We are seeking a reliable individual to start on June 1 or July 1, 2026, for a part-time position of approximately 25 hours per week, who enjoys the combination of the art world and the funding community, as well as the diverse conditions associated with them.

The position is temporary, ending on December 31, 2027. The work location is Kassel.

Assistant Fundraising (m/f/d) part-time 25h

Your responsibilities:

  • Assist the general administrative and organizational workflows of the fundraising department
  • Assist in the preparation of grant applications, invitation letters, and general correspondence by preparing mailings, informational materials, and thank-you letters
  • Maintain and update donor and contact databases regularly
  • Schedule management: Assist with the monitoring of the calendar of deadlines, coordination of appointments, meetings, and events
  • Assist with the preparation of narratives and texts for artists projects
  • Work with the Fundraising Coordinator to provide administrative support for the International Friends of documenta e. V.
  • Assist in the organizing of events for sponsors, partners, and friends in collaboration with the Hospitality Department
  • General research tasks

Your Profile:

  • Previous professional experience in fundraising and managing partnerships is desirable but not required
  • Command of both written and spoken German and English is required
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, as well as a structured and precise approach to work
  • Stylistically confident expression; strong and clear communication skills
  • IT proficiency and expertise in using Excel, CRM tools, and common IT applications
  • Attention to detail, discretion, and reliability
  • Interest and work experience in the field of contemporary art is a plus
  • Enjoyment of process-oriented, collaborative work as part of a large international team
